The Gambia and Senegal are host to over 600 different species of bird including the Goliath Heron, Giant Kingfisher, Northern Carmine Bee-eater, Varreaux's eagle Owl, Abyssinian Ground Hornbill.

At just 11,295 km2, The Gambia has the greatest number of species relative to its size than any country in the wotld.
